Ambassador Edward Akwasi Boateng, has officially declared his intention to contest the position of National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
With almost three decades of dedicated service to the party, Ambassador Boateng brings unmatched experience, organizational skill and a proven record of leadership. Since 1996, he has played pivotal roles in successive national campaigns and strategic operations. He served as Secretary to the Transition Team of President John Agyekum Kufuor following the party’s historic victory in 2000 and subsequently contributed to the Communications Team during the 2004, 2008 and 2012 elections.
In 2016, he was appointed Head of Administration and Logistics for the NPP National campaign, coordinating campaign operations nationwide. During the 2020 elections, he served on the Ashanti Regional Campaign Team and contributed to Strategic Communications (StratCom), reinforcing the party’s messaging and outreach.
Ambassador Boateng is widely respected across the diverse traditions of the NPP. He maintains cordial relations with all current chairman aspirants, the party’s flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other national leaders, positioning him as a unifier at a critical moment in the party’s history.
“The party at this time needs a good organiser and someone who has the ability to bring people together,” Ambassador Boateng stated.
Beyond his service to the NPP, Ambassador Boateng has distinguished himself in public service, the private sector and international diplomacy. As Ghana’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, he strengthened bilateral relations and advanced economic cooperation. As Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), he championed reforms to improve accountability, transparency and performance across state-owned enterprises.
In his declaration, Ambassador Boateng reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the ideals of the NPP and his readiness to work collaboratively with the party’s leadership:
“I am offering myself to serve the party as National Vice Chairman. I stand ready to work with all aspirants and leaders to rebuild, strengthen our structures and restore unity and victory.”
If given the mandate, Ambassador Boateng pledges to leverage his experience to:
- Strengthen the party’s organizational capacity.
- Enhance coordination across national and regional structures.
- Support a focused, effective campaign strategy as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections.
Ambassador Boateng’s candidature represents a call for unity, discipline and strong organizational leadership; qualities essential for the party’s renewal and future success.
